Compression hosiery for stasis disorders

Abstract

Compression hosiery can be used to control limb oedema from any cause, including local venous or lymphatic insufficiency, to compress varicose veins and so relieve discomfort, and to prevent venous thrombosis. Physiological studies have only recently attempted to define the degree of compression appropriate to different disorders, so that suitable compression hosiery can be chosen.
