Zomepirac (zomax)

Abstract

Zomepirac sodium (Zomax - Ortho) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic (NSAID), chemically related to tolmetin (Tolectin - Ortho).1 Like other NSAIDs it inhibits prostaglandin synthetase;2 but unlike them it is promoted primarily as an analgesic for general use. Is it as much of an innovation as the manufacturer suggests?
