▾ Marvelon - an OC with a new progestagen

Abstract

Marvelon (Organon) is a 21-day, fixed-dose combined oral contraceptive (OC) containing 30 mcg of ethinyloestradiol (EE) and 150 mcg of a new progestagen, desogestrel (D). It thus differs only by using D in place of the closely related levonorgestrel (LN) from the established formulation used in Microgynon 30 and Ovranette - which accounts for about one-third of the OC market in Britain.
