Addendum: oral progesterone is active after all (suppositories for systemic medication July 15, 1983, p.55).

Abstract

We implied that progesterone is inactivated in the liver after oral dosage thus making this route ineffective. Recent work shows that oral progesterone produces an increase in plasma progesterone which affects the oestrogenised postmenopausal endometrium.1 Clinical trials of oral progesterone are now in progress.
