Abstract

In response to our article on stronger analgesics we have learned that some practitioners are becoming concerned about buprenorphine abuse. In Germany buprenorphine has recently become a controlled drug and in New Zealand, Thailand and the USA its use is restricted. The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs in the UK, which last reviewed buprenorphine in 1978, plans to reconsider the drug’s status later this year.
