Dipivefrin: an adrenaline pro-drug for glaucoma

Abstract

Local adrenaline is sometimes needed for the treatment of chronic simple glaucoma1 but it often causes troublesome unwanted effects. Dipivefrin a pro-drug of adrenaline, is claimed to have fewer of these ocular and systemic adverse effects. It is available for topical use as 0.1% drops (Propine - Allergan).
