Replacing sugar in syrups

Abstract

The British Pharmacopoeia is revising its monographs for liquid oral medicines to allow suitable alternatives to sucrose to be used in BP preparations. This should help children who need long-term treatment with liquid medicines for chronic conditions (see Drug Ther Bull 1981; 19: 75–6).
