Abstract

Gemeprost (Cervagem - M & B) is a vaginal pessary licensed for use to promote softening and dilatation of the cervix before operative abortion of first trimester pregnancy. It contains 1mg of a stable methylated analogue of prostaglandin E₁. A single pessary is inserted three hours before surgery.
