Dianette for women with acne
Abstract
Diane, a combination of ethinyloestradiol 50μg + cyproterone acetate 2mg, was introduced in 1983 for the treatment of acne in women who had not responded to topical preparations and/or oral antibiotics,1 and for mild to moderate idiopathic hirsutism.2 In keeping with recent attempts to reduce the oestrogen content of all oestrogen/progestagen combinations, Diane has been withdrawn and replaced by Dianette which contains ethinyloestradiol 35µg + cyproterone 2mg. Is it as effective?
