Lubricants and ointments can damage condoms

Abstract

Durex have produced a leaflet warning of the large numbers of oil-based vaginal lubricants and ointments which can damage condoms and diaphragms, including many prescribable vaginal and rectal suppositories, pessaries, ointments, creams and gels. The leaflet includes useful reference lists of those preparations known to cause damage and those which are regarded as safe to use with condoms. Copies can be obtained from Durex Information Service for Sexual Health, North Circular Road, London E4 8QA.
