Abstract

Many patients with chronic respiratory failure, pulmonary emboli or primary pulmonary hypertension eventually develop pulmonary heart disease. Once the symptoms of pulmonary heart disease become established the outlook is poor. We discuss ways of preventing pulmonary heart disease and of treating it once it occurs.
