Naphazoline nasal vasoconstrictor drops

Abstract

We recently drew attention to the dangers of nasal vasoconstrictor solutions in general and naphazoline in particular.1 The manufacturers of Fenox (Boots) and Nez (Rybar) have now announced that they will no longer use naphazoline in these preparations. Among preparations still containing this substance are Privine and Antistin-Privine (Ciba), and Nomaze (Benger). It is to be hoped that all manufacturers will stop using it in products available without prescription.
