Correction: intra-articular and peri-articular injection of corticosteroids (drug therap. bull. august 20, p. 65)

Abstract

In this article we stated that ‘exclusive use of autoclaved syringes and needles is desirable.’ This is incorrect. When complete sterilisation is essential it is best to use sterile disposable syringes, or syringes packed and then sterilised by dry heat. Syringes sterilised in an autoclave can be used but are less convenient because they must be dismantled for sterilisation and reassembled before use. It is also difficult to ensure that autoclaved syringes are dry.
