▾ Adenosine for acute cardiac arrhythmias

Abstract

Adenosine is an endogenous purine nucleoside, marketed in an injectable form (Adenocor – Sanofi Winthrop) for the treatment of junctional tachycardia (supraventricular tachycardia involving atrioventricular re-entry circuits), and for the diagnosis of broad or narrow complex tachycardias. In this article we discuss its use and consider how it compares with conventional treatment using verapamil.
