Abstract

Recently we outlined a prescribing policy designed to help reduce benzodiazepine use in hospitals.¹ Most benzodiazepine prescribing takes place in general practice and, although benzodiazepine use has fallen in the last 15 years, many GPs will still have up to 50 long-term users on their lists. In May, the Mental Health Foundation published guidelines on benzodiazepine use in primary care.*
