High-potency preparations of pancreatin
Abstract
When we reviewed the use of pancreatic supplements for the treatment of steatorrhoea1 we welcomed the introduction of the first high-potency formulation (Creon 25 000 – Duphar) but questioned whether it could actually deliver large doses of lipase. Since then three other high-potency formulations have been introduced in the UK; Nutrizym 22 – Merck, Pancrease HL – Cilag and Panzytrat 25 000 – Knoll. Do these formulations allow patients to take fewer capsules, and do they help improve the control of steatorrhoea?
