Abstract

Flumethasone pivalate (Locorten - Ciba), introduced last year, is the newest synthetic steroid marketed for topical use. A lotion, cream, and ointment each contain 0.02% of the steroid as a microcrystalline suspension. The substance is also offered in combination with neomycin (Locorten N) and with clioquinol (Locorten-Vioform cream, ointment and paste).
