Surmontil - another antidepressant

Abstract

Trimipramine (Surmontil - M & B), an antidepressant, has been used in France for about four years.1 It is more closely related chemically to imipramine than to amitriptyline, but resembles the latter in that it is said to have greater sedative effects than imipramine. The recommended dosage (25–75 mg three times daily) is similar to that of the related tricyclic antidepressants, which we have discussed in previous articles.2 3
