Pain management programmes for chronic pain?
Abstract
Chronic, or persistent, pain is usually described as pain that lasts for 3 months or longer, beyond an expected time of healing.1 Patients with chronic pain often also have psychosocial symptoms. Pain management programmes (PMPs) are interventions that aim to improve the physical, psychological, emotional and social dimensions of such patients' quality of life.2 Here we discuss the place of these interventions for chronic non-cancer pain.
