Abstract

Nu-Air (Tack Industries) and Airco (Inter-Continental Office Equipment) air conditioners release ozone and ‘negative ions’ into the atmosphere. The manufacturers claim that these air conditioners produce the equivalent of healthy mountain air and improve health and physical and mental efficiency. The phrases used include ‘health restoring’ (Nu-Air), and ‘increase energy and resistance to disease’ (Airco). The equipment is also promoted for removing unpleasant odours and sterilising air in home and hospital. Doctors may therefore be asked about these air conditioners. The manufacturers say that there are a number of hospitals among their customers, and that this justifies their claims.
