Management of urinary infections in children

Abstract

Urinary infection in children is common. It is important because recurrent attacks of urinary infection can damage the kidneys and cause permanent and severe impairment of renal function, and because many congenital abnormalities of the urinary tract may present with urinary infection. Infection must therefore be promptly and adequately treated by drugs, and congenital abnormalities looked for.
