November 18th marks European Antibiotic Awareness Day, a Europe-wide public health initiative that encourages prudent and responsible use of antibiotics. In addition, the United Kingdom 5-year strategy on tackling antimicrobial resistance was published in September.1 Both events provide a useful prompt for us to take a careful look at how we use antibiotics in our own practice, reflect on our successes and plan for the future.
