Management of superficial venous thrombosis of the leg

Abstract

Although for many people superficial venous thrombosis of the leg is a benign self-limiting condition, for others it is a potentially serious problem associated with an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.14 Here, we consider some of the challenges associated with managing superficial venous thrombosis and review the evidence for non-surgical treatment options.
