Amiloride and triamterene
Abstract
Amiloride (Midamor) is a new potassium-sparing diuretic. It is available alone and in combination with hydrochlorothiazide (Moduretic). Some early publications refer to the drug as MK-870 or amipramizide. Structurally amiloride shares important features with triamterene (Dytac), which is pharmacologically similar and has been in use since 1963.1
