Fluoride toothpaste: correction

Abstract

This article (July 16, p. 58) stated that most children swallow less than 0.2% of the toothpaste they use. This should have read ‘. . . less than 20% of the toothpaste they use.’ The statement was derived from the work of J. A. Hargreaves et al. (Caries Res. 1970, 4, 256; 1971, 5, 19). It remains very unlikely that the systemic intake of fluoride from this source is important.
