Ear wax solvents compared

Abstract

In 1968 we reviewed some new preparations intended to facilitate the removal of ear wax, and concluded that local application of a vegetable oil for a few days before syringing was probably as effective as anything else. Xerumenex then seemed the preparation most likely to be effective after a single application, but good controlled studies were lacking.1
