Stability of heparin in dextrose infusions: correction

Abstract

The article on ‘mixing drugs with i. v. infusions’ (July 3, 1970, p. 55) stated that heparin is unstable in acid solutions, for example dextrose. This was based on indirect evidence and theoretical considerations. However since the article appeared, unpublished bioassays have shown that heparin solutions diluted in dextrose retain full activity for at least 3 days at room temperature.
