Abstract

The anti-malarial drugs, chloroquine BP (Avloclor - ICI; Nivaquine - M & B; Resochin - FBA; and others) and hydroxychloroquine BP (Plaquenil - Bayer), are the drugs of first choice for chronic discoid lupus erythematosus and for polymorphous eruptions due to light-sensitivity; they may also be beneficial in the chronic stage of systemic lupus, and they are often useful in rheumatoid arthritis.
