Abstract

Tranylcypromine (Parnate - SKF), a “new versatile antidepressant”, is chemically almost identical with amphetamine; but a slight molecular difference may give rise to new effects, as it does with this drug. Parnate is also a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor and appears to be a useful addition to the group of antidepressant drugs.
