Abstract

Sulphasalazine (Salazopyrin - Pharmacia, marketed in Britain by Samoore) an azo compound of sulphapyridine and salicylic acid, is promoted as a valuable drug in ulcerative colitis, and has been claimed to produce striking improvement of diarrhoea, bleeding and cramps, improvement in appetite, and healing of the mucous membrane.
