Premarin and coronary artery disease

Abstract

Two recent papers appear to support an earlier American claim that men with coronary artery disease can improve their chances of survival by taking conjugated oestrogens from pregnant mares’ urine (Premarin - ICI). The U. S. Medical Letter questioned the validity of the clinical and statistical evidence offered in the original report by J. Marmorston et al. (paper presented at the January 1961 meeting of the Western Section of the American Federation of Clinical Research). The validity of the newer evidence is also questionable.
