AB The possible risks of vaccination are well recognised and are an important consideration when advising the patient on the likely benefits of being immunised. The risks are influenced both by the particular susceptibility of the patient and by the nature of the vaccine, whether it is live or dead, bacterial or viral. In many instances these risks can be reduced by taking simple precautions. The leaflet in the vaccine packet should always be consulted.
