In animals it shows peripheral and cerebral vasodilator properties and is claimed to act directly on brain cells increasing cerebral metabolism.1 It also induces resistance to hypoxic damage as shown by EEG recordings. It is now being marketed for use in man as a ‘cerebral activator’.
