AB Many epileptic patients take more than one anticonvulsant drug. Interactions between these anticonvulsants and with other non-anticonvulsant medicaments are common.1 As with other drugs, interactions may occur at several sites, including absorption, plasma protein binding, biotransformation and excretion. We recently discussed the effects of anti-epileptic drugs on vitamin D, steroid and folate absorption and metabolism.2
