Metoclopramide is promoted as an anti-emetic and for the relief of a wide variety of upper gastrointestinal symptoms including heartburn, ‘flatulent dyspepsia’ and gastritis. It is also offered as a way of facilitating radiological studies and diagnostic intubation of the small intestine.
