It is similar to co-trimoxazole (sulphamethoxazole + trimethoprim; various brands) and co-trimazine (sulphadiazine + trimethoprim; Coptin),1 which has recently been withdrawn from the UK market. The manufacturer claims co-trifamole to be effective in lower dosage and therefore with fewer dose-dependent adverse effects.
