RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 Correction: nebulisers in childhood asthma (15 March, page 23) JF Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin JO Drug Ther Bull FD BMJ Publishing Group Ltd SP 36 OP 36 DO 10.1136/dtb.31.9.36-a VO 31 IS 9 YR 1993 UL http://dtb.bmj.com/content/31/9/36.2.abstract AB In our recent article we stated that “most children over 3 years old can take bronchodilator by an MDI” (metered dose inhaler). The statement was shortened at a final editing stage and is incorrect. It should have read “wheezy children over 3 years old should take their bronchodilator by inhalation rather than as a syrup or tablet”. Whilst even very young infants can be given bronchodilator by an MDI with a spacer and mask, few can manage an MDI alone before about 8 years old. Even at this age a dry powder device is often more suitable than an unmodified MDI.
