AB Oestrogen for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is now well established for treating perimenopausal symptoms and preventing osteoporosis.1 It also protects against ischaemic heart disease and stroke.2,3 A transdermal delivery method for oestradiol (Estraderm TTS – transdermal therapeutic system) as a ‘patch’ now exists. What advantage does the patch offer over oral or implanted oestrogen?
