AB  - Some common medical problems in women limit the range of methods of contraception suitable for them. Women with such problems need careful guidance to choose an effective and safe method. The condom can always be used, and male or female sterilisation may be appropriate where pregnancy is strongly contraindicated on medical grounds or when the family is complete. This article considers other methods and offers brief guidelines which supplement the DHSS Handbook of Contraceptive Practice.
