They have largely replaced oral corticosteroids for the prevention of asthma symptoms and asthma attacks, and for most patients they have become the first line of preventive drug therapy. We recently discussed the role of inhaled corticosteroids in the management of childhood asthma.1 Here, we review their place in the management of adults with asthma.
