Any two insulin preparations may be administered by separate injections - ideally at different sites, but patients prefer a single injection. If two types of insulin are required it is an advantage to be able to mix these beforehand in one syringe. This note summarises which preparations can be safely mixed and which are not suitable for mixing in this way.1 – 3
