Lilly computer software trial judged promotional and discreditable

Abstract

Good trials are essential to advance our knowledge of treatment effects. It is right that doctors should be encouraged to participate in trials which ask clinically important questions and should be recompensed for their time and expenses. However, they are sometimes asked to take part in trials sponsored by drug companies where the main aim is promotional. One such was recently exposed and found to have infringed the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry’s (ABPI) Code of Practice.1
