Clarification: corticosteroids in asthma

Abstract

Our article (11 June 1990, page 45) was concerned mainly with asthma in adults. For young children the dosage and duration of treatment with oral prednisolone should be less. A short course for a young child would be 2mg/kg (up to 40 mg) daily for 4 days. We discussed the treatment of preschool children in 1988 (Vol 26, No 6, 21 March 1988, page 21).
