Benzodiazepines cause dependence.^1–4 Treatment programmes to help long-term users to withdraw are being developed,^5,6 and so are better ways of dealing with anxiety and insomnia.⁷ Here we update this topic, starting with the influence of the limited list on benzodiazepine usage.
