Synadrin for angina: obsolete?

Abstract

Prenylamine (Synadrin - Hoechst), one of the first calcium antagonists, was introduced over 25 years ago for the treatment of angina pectoris. It is now rarely used as it can cause serious ventricular arrhythmias. There are safer alternatives,1 so should it still be available?
