Choice of antacids for peptic ulcer

Abstract

We discussed antacids for peptic ulcer a year ago,1 and pointed out that though adequate doses of antacids rapidly relieve pain, evidence that they will promote healing of an ulcer or reduce the chance of its recurrence is lacking. The choice of the preparation to be used will often depend on its taste, bulk and general convenience.
