Oral contraceptives

Abstract

Oral contraceptives have now been used by some women for more than six years, and have been the subject of a number of mass studies. These studies establish beyond doubt that when a progestogen and oestrogen combination is taken orally in recommended dosage for 20 days in each cycle, the method is virtually 100 per cent effective; all failures can probably be attributed to misunderstanding or negligence on the part of the patient.
