Cefaclor - a new oral cephalosporin

Abstract

Cefaclor (Distaclor - Dista) is the third oral cephalosporin now available. It competes with cephalexin (Ceporex - Glaxo; Keflex - Lilly) and cephradine (Velosef - Squibb). Cefaclor and cephalexin are marketed only as oral preparations whereas cephradine can be given by mouth and by injection. We have recently reviewed new parenteral cephalosporins.1
