Epifoam after childbirth for perineal pain

Abstract

Epifoam (Stafford-Miller) is an aerosol foam promoted for the relief of perineal pain and discomfort following tears and episiotomies at childbirth. The manufacturer claims that it is a ‘unique and effective topical treatment which relieves perineal pain locally’ and that its use should reduce the need for oral analgesics, so helping the breast-fed baby.
