Tuberculin skin tests

Abstract

Tuberculin testing is used in the diagnosis of tuberculosis, in epidemiological surveys, and as an essential preliminary to BCG vaccination. It may also help to differentiate between tuberculosis and sarcoidosis which can be very similar clinically; in about 50% of patients with sarcoidosis the usual tuberculin tests are negative.
